CLEP and DSST exam-prep, written from experience.

About Alex

Alex Stone earned her bachelor's degree from Thomas Edison State University using 27 CLEP and DSST exams to test out of 99 credits, roughly three years of college coursework, earned by sitting for standardized exams instead of taking classes.

She founded Flying Prep to make that path accessible to other working adults and returning students. The site exists because every CLEP and DSST resource Alex tried as a student was either a free volunteer effort, a flashcard pack from years ago, or a forum thread of disconnected tips. None of them treated test-prep like a professional discipline. Flying Prep does.

What Alex writes about

Alex writes the per-exam study guides on Flying Prep covering:

  • CLEP exams: history, social sciences, business, English composition, literature, mathematics, natural sciences
  • DSST exams: business, economics, computing, organizational behavior, finance
  • Strategy and prep: how to schedule study time around a job, which exams to take first, how to use Modern States and other free resources, how to verify a school's credit-acceptance policy

For exams Alex has personally taken, articles include first-person notes on what surprised her, what she found hardest, and what she would do differently. For exams she has not taken, articles draw on the broader student community and the exams' published content outlines.
