Conscientious individuals set goals, plan carefully, persist through obstacles, and maintain high standards, which translates into reliable performance regardless of the specific job context.

Extraversion ("Extraversion") predicts performance in certain roles, particularly those involving interpersonal interaction such as sales and management, but it is not consistently related to performance across all occupations. Agreeableness ("Agreeableness") is valuable for teamwork and customer service roles but can be a liability in positions requiring tough negotiations. Openness to experience ("Openness to experience") is associated with creativity and adaptability but shows weaker overall relationships with traditional performance measures.
